Circus Oz 30th Birthday Bash
Circus Oz are an Australian entertainment phenomenon, being one of the first Circus shows not to have any animals. Over the past 30 years they have entertained people all over the world and, for their 30th anniversary, they have brought the show to Edinburgh for a big party. Upon entering the hall, we are greeted by various cast members who are playing in and around the arriving audience. By the time everyone is seated the atmosphere is relaxed and expectant. The music is provided by a four piece band at the back of the stage who provide a wide variety of exciting and scene appropriate music for the acts.

The opening of the show is jaw-droppingly awesome. Stuff the Olympics, the seven people flying up and down a metal pole seemed to be defying the laws of physics. The finale as they made a human totem pole was just fabulous. After this we had a pair of jugglers fighting over a hat as they swapped the clubs around with abandon, a little roller blade dancing culminating in a back flip, the tiny blonde dynamo with a metal ring bigger than her which she rolled about the stage in and finally used as a hula hoop! After this we got the white bouncy ball juggling around the stage, a robo-dog who was very rude, a laboratory scene reminiscent of Rocky Horror (which scared the littlies a bit), a comedic juggling strip, a very balletic dance up a curtain, a very kitsch version of I Get A Kick and a finale of flying kangaroos.
This was a hilarious, acrobatic, high-energy and magical 75 minutes of entertainment fit for all the family. The cast and band all kept smiling no matter how difficult the stunts they were performing were and there was never a moment when the excitement on stage flagged. Very highly recommended.
