With only a solitary day left of the 2010 Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the award winners were announced at The Hifi Bar. The deserving winners are as follows:

The Funny Tonne was taken out by Mike Brown who risked sleep deprivation and his sanity to squeeze in 133 shows over the course of the Festival.

The Age awarded their Critics Award to Asher Treleaven for his show ‘Secret Door’.

A motley crew of comedian including founder Greg Fleet, inaugural winners Miss Itchy and last years’ winner Lawrence Mooney gave the Piece Of Wood Award to Sam Simmons for his show Fail.

The Golden Gibbo Award went to Sam Simmons and David Quirk for The Incident.

Susan Provan and other visiting festival directors handed the Director’s Choice Award to Hannah Gadsby for The Cliff Young Shuffle.

The Melbourne Airport Best Newcomer Award was won by Claudia O’Doherty for the show Monster Of The Deep 3D

The punters of the festival determined Wil Anderson (for the show ‘Wilful Misconduct’) the winner of the Bulmer’s People’s Choice Award.
