The New Zealand International Comedy Festival Awards were handed out on Monday 17th of May. Rhys Mathewson at 19 is the

youngest ever recipient of the Billy T Award which is given to the comedian that showed outstanding potential throughout the festival. He received a yellow towel and $5,000 as his prize.
The Fred Award (named after comic character Fred Dagg by ex pat John Clarke) is given to a New Zealander with the potential to make it big overseas and that was awarded to Jessie Griffin for his character Wilson Dixon. Jessie is originally from Dunedin, though he mostly lives in Australia and is also popular in the UK. He received a $3,000 international travel voucher.
Best International Show went to UK comedian Tom Wrigglesworth and Best Newcomer went to Rose Matafeo.
